Over the Moor is a new choir piece written for Voices of Exmoor as part of the Adopt a Music Creator project, funded by the PRS Foundation and the Philip and Dorothy Green Music Trust, and run by Making Music, in partnership with Sound and Music.

The Adopt a Music Creator project celebrates the range and breadth of music being made by music makers and creators in all its forms. The project pairs Making Music members - leisure-time choirs, bands, orchestras and ensembles - with a music creator for up to a year leading up to a premiere, a recording and a possible radio broadcast. Music creators have the opportunity to get to know performing groups and write a piece especially for them to premiere, while groups and their music directors have the chance to contribute to the creation of a new work by some of the UK’s most promising music creators.

Excerpt from blog post about the new piece on the premiere night:

'It is about movement; a lark flying high in the sky, the sound of the wind in the trees and the rivers running over pebbled stones and shaping the landscape. It is about the urgency in the air as the fox, the hare and the deer prepare for autumn and the first frost biting the moor.'
